Community Garden Looking Good

Thanks to Tree Trust, the Pohlad Foundation, StreetWorks and JACC, the community garden has been renovated.  I couldn’t resist taking pictures when I drove past this week.  Enjoy!

  1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the restored community garden. We hope neighbors not only enjoy the new plantings but come to a special event on Aug. 22 at 4:00 when a new garden archway is installed. The archway is being created by artists from the SPEAK Project who work directly with kids from the neighborhood.

For those who may not know or remember, this is the same group of artists who worked with youth last year to design, build and install the JUSTICE park bench in Cottage Park. The park bench received an award this year from the city’s public arts commission.

This summer, the garden arch is being designed by young women from the Home School who have adopted the word HOPE and the butterfly to symbolize the change that is going on in their lives and the positive change in the neighborhood.

I invite everyone to come out for the installation on August 22 at 4:00 pm. It’s a great time to celebrate and get together with the fine citizens of Jordan, many of whom I have come to know and love.

  2. Yeah, it looks great! I enjoyed helping a little with my toddler to water the plants on the big planting day.
