Governing Documents

There has been a lot of confusion and ignorance about Jordan’s governing documents. To help ease the confusion and provide clarity, I am including the Articles of Incorporation and the current bylaws for the Jordan Area Community Council. The current bylaws were presented at the annual meeting in October 2003 and approved the following month at a community meeting. During the past fiscal year, the board proposed a completely new set of bylaws and voted to approve them at a board meeting. However, the bylaws were never presented to, nor approved by, the community so they are not valid at this point in time.

One of the primary duties of the board of directors is to ensure the bylaws are followed.  Yet most JACC Board members seem to lack knowledge of the bylaws.  A future “Concerns” article will talk about concerns related to the bylaws and the board’s attempt to rewrite them.
